I Found Myself at Junior High School 1 Dompu ^_^

Since I was a child, my parents never allowed me to join singing, traditional and modern dancing, and sport competition. They just gave me permission to be a qori’ah. But, my teachers at my beloved SMP 1 Dompu changed and helped me to find myself ^_^

When I was at first grade at Junior High School, there was a province level event it was called “PORSENI” that was conducted in Mataram (the capital city of NTB Province), Lombok Island. It was about 12 hours from Dompu, could be reached by bus, motorcycle and car.

Mr. Buhari was my art teacher who chose me to be one of vocal group members. Wenny, Lesti, Dhani, and Syarif were my partners. Firstly, my parents did not allow me, but all of my siblings tried to explain and convey them that I would be oke, they did not have to worry about that.

Because there was a permission from my parents, I joined it and did vocal training every afternoon at school. We sang anthem such as Gebyar-gebyar, Pantang Mundur and Nggahi Rawi Pahu( Dompu’s song). After several weeks, we prepared our departure to Lombok Island. We used two bussess and started our trip at 07:00 P.M. Some nostalgia songs accompanied us on the road, that was so nice and unforgettable moment for us.

In the morning after we spent 12 hours on bus, we arrived at Asrama Haji. It was the place to stay during 5 days which had prepared to all participants for Porseni NTB Province.  I met many new friends over there. They were from West Sumbawa, Sumbawa, Bima, West Lombok, Central Lombok, East Lombok, etc. They were unique and friendly although some of them were not :D We could guess they were coming from Sumbawa, Lombok, or Bima by their accent and style :)
Porseni ( Pekan Olahraga dan Seni) divided into two groups they are sport and art. Vocal group and qur’an recitation were classified into art then football, volley ball, taqro, etc were classified into sport. That was the first and nice experience that  out of my town ! I felt so glad and lucky joined the competition. I could also walk around in Mataram with my friends ^_^ Alhamdulillah, thanks Mr. Bukhari :D

Finally, at the last night our group was elected as the runner up. We had done our best, but Allah was not allowed our group to be the winner. It did not matter, the impotrtant things were the process and experience! :)
