English For Young Learners :D

EYL stands for English for Young Learners is a young learner course which uses innovative methods to encourage young learners to speak English as much as possible and to make them fun in learning English. It helps teachers and students enjoy the classroom activities by choosing the exact methods.

EYL is an elective subject for sixth semester in English Department of The University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Actually, there are three elective subjects that can be chosen by English Department students such as English For Young Learners, Translation, and Bussiness English. My friends and I who  exist on the pictures below are taking EYL class in this sixth semester :)

I take EYL because I want to be creative in teaching. Here, we learn classroom management, how to teach English skills such as reading, listening, writing, and speaking. We also learn how to teach songs and rymes, drama, story telling, and many others. It is a fun class! We learn how to be a headmaster, treasurer, secretary, etc. This class teaches us to learn and work cooperatively and I am sure it helps us to work in social life. One more, in EYL class I am learning how to be a nice mother and teacher for my children in the future hahahh :p  :)

We meet twice every week In EYL class. Miss. Devin, Riran, Dina, Idha, and I are united in reading group for EYL. Each group must present the materials only in two meetings. First meeting is explaining the theory (How to teach reading, tips for teaching reading, the benefits of teaching reading, reading activities, the principles of teaching reading, etc) and introducing our opening and closing classroom password and then the second meeting is teaching practice. Usually, we open our presentation and teaching practice by singing our opening and closing classroom password which are used for attracting the students attention when the classroom activities are begun.

Group II members are in action :p Me, miss Riran, Devin, and Dina (My reading group in EYL class ) Miss Idha is not here because she is taking our photo :D
Miss. Dina is explaining the materials on the slide :)
Miss Ida is teaching reading  for second grade by using balloons (There is a word written on each balloon  :)
Here, our opening classroom password and the tone is taking Potong Bebek Angsa Song :)
Good morning my teacher good morning my friends
How are you today? I’m pretty well
let’s smile together, let’s enjoy the class, I hope everything is gonna be ok :D (2X)

Closing classroom password, it takes Sayonara song :)

Good bye teacher, good bye my friends
It’s time to go home
See you next time teacher
žSee you next time my friends
See you next time my wonderful class
Thank you ^_^
" Do not forget about your body language while singing those songs because teaching EYL
should use TPR (Total Physical Response)  ok :p "

Miss Riran and Dina are placed as the presenters, Miss. Devin as the first grade teacher Miss. Idha as the second grade teacher, and me as the moderator and teacher in third grade all at once.
When we teach, do not forget to appreciate every good small thing that your students do
because it makes them happy and want to do their best again, again, all over again.
Appreciation is one of the tricks to encourage our students joining the classroom activities happily.
^_^
